Roadtrip!
Hello everyone. I was wondering should I be concerned about taking my 2001 Focus LX on a roadtrip to Atlanta from Louisville, Ky? In summer 2011 I had got a new engine due to lack of oil change, oops. And I got new tires just last winter. I know there are things that can happen like a blowout but I'm prepared, AAA. Lol, and I'm due for an oil change right before the trip and they check fluid levels. Guess what I'm looking for is an "it'll be fine" or "hell no". Or if any places do checks before trips like this because I have no idea what to look for. P.S. its 3 other people riding. Thanks guys!

Meh.

It will be fine. As long as it's reliable now, nothing should really change on a road trip.

Well, you could do the checks yourself. What might be a good idea is a tune-up. Plugs, wires, MAF cleaning, check: fuel filter, air filter, PCV valve, washer fluid, and tire check.
Fuel and air filter: should be replaced every 20-30k miles or 1 yr if lower mileage. Plugs and wires: if needed. Those 100k mile plugs last about 80k, and wires about 50k/5yrs. PCV valve: inspected every 20k and changed as needed MAF cleaning: as often as you want. Tire check: weekly, but definitely before you take a trip. Make sure cold pressures match the number given inside the driver's door on the sticker there. Inspect tread wear as this gives indications of some suspension problems. Washer fluid: No need to check just put some in- as long as it's not leaking out. If your wipers aren't working very well, then right before a trip is a good time to change blades. You don't want to be in an unfamiliar area with funky wiper blades in the rain. I typically put on a coat of Rain-X on the windshield before trips. You can also put it on the mirrors and windows unless you like to crack your front windows in the rain. I put it on the passenger side windows on my wife's van because those are the ones she would look through to check for cars when merging. It sounds like you'll be fine. If you're not up for a tune-up, just check your tire pressures, fill up the washer fluid, and roll on. It's hard for me or anyone else to give a correct answer because we aren't there to inspect the car.
