I guess I'm not the only one who believes that the 6DCT250 it's a great transmission. |

One thing is for certain: The DCT is not going away anytime soon.

I hope the 7DCT500 shows up in the ST. It should be able to handle up to 368 lbft of torque, that should be more than sufficient. I would then look at buying one, but not before some DCT/DSG is available. I am assuming Getrag makes the DCT's in the 2012-13 Foci?

Great, that is what I was thinking. I still wish I could produce the article, and the more I think about it, it was probably in one of the car mags in my cardiologist office and not one of my saved online articles. But in it one of the R&D guys for Ford said they needed to beef up the DCT before offering it in the ST, sounds like the 7DCT500 might be what they were waiting on. I sure hope so.

If an auto is offered in the ST, this would be it. In any case, this would indicate that more and more conventional automatics will eventually be replaced by dual clutch transmissions.

I think 10-20 years, maybe even sooner, we're going to see ONLY dual clutch tranny's even offered.

^^ doubt it, you can't beat a manual. Even if auto is faster...ppl still enjoy manual. I think it will always be an option, must might see less of it in models.

I'm loving my DCT. Sort of wish they'd segregate the DCT threads like they do the interior mods so I don't run across them and feel tempted to read them.
Would I buy the DCT again? Yes. After reading some DCT horror thread? Maybe. If they offered a 6 speed manual rated the same mpg as the DCT? I'd get the manual.
