A part of me dies every time I see a V8 swapped RX7. The whole point of the RX line is that it has a rotary. Sure, rotaries are goofy and temperamental engines with the thirst of a v8 and the torque of an inline 4, but they lend a certain character, soul, and identity to the RX's. Stripping that out for a small block ruins the point of the car, and I see it as a bit of a cop out.

This one is certainly still a cool car, but I'd prefer he'd done it to something else, maybe an old RWD Corolla or something.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. It wasn't a perfect engine at all, but it was the 'soul' of the car, and it was what made the car unique. To some extent, I feel the same way about V8-swapped Z-cars from the 1970s. The whole point was the inline 6, the car was Datsun's version of an early Jaguar E-type. It was a sports car, not a muscle car.

Not to pile on, but... the car is now for sale! How convenient is that? So basically he got a shit ton of free advertising to the auto universe. Of course, no one in their right mind would ever pay enough for that car for the guy to recoup his costs on it. I hope.
