Ive been working with this stuff for a while. With the right circumstances you can do some crazy things with just 2 drivers.

That said, driver placement and a little fab work and good things can happen. I am soon to fab up my A pillars for the Xtant XIS 2.4's(Morel) I just bought.

I was just gonna cut the hole open a bit bigger, bolt my woofers in there, and put the tweeter up on the top of the A pillar and the rear tweeters I was going to stick on the grill of the door panel. Kinda like a coaxial speaker with out the harshness and peakyness.

so ill keep this simple. no, a 8" speaker will not sound good if you just simply cut the metal to make it fit and mount it. it takes a good amount of sound deadening becuase the 8 will vibrate a good amount destroying the sound quality. best way to mount an 8 to the door is fiberglassing. a nice set of 6.5 components in the doors with the tweets either in the a pillar or the door near the mid would sound great for a daily setup. if you want 8s put them in the kickpanels but that still takes fiberglassing.

Thats another thing that I was thinking with this. Sigh lol.

Ill probably use a 7 inch driver instead. I can get a few at a good price. Im really not concerned about bass though I got a 12 for that.
