Small Upgrades

Hello,

I own a 2009 Ford Focus SES Coupe.
I'm looking into upgrading my cold air intake and exhaust.

For the intake, I found two options:
http://www.fswerks.com/collections/f...-focus-duratec
http://www.steedafocus.com/parts/200...ir-intake.html

As for the exhaust system I've come across the following:
http://www.steedafocus.com/parts/for...w-exhaust.html
http://www.fswerks.com/collections/e...edan-2008-2011

I was wondering if, when it comes to exhausts, is it worth it to replace the whole system or would the muffle be sufficient? I'm only looking to get a better sound out of it, not necessarily increase power.

If anyone has any suggestion on which intake and/or exhaust to get, i would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Vlad

I do not recomend buying the "steeda" exh. Way over priced. If you want magnaflow, go with trubendz.com. Same with the steeda SRI, definately go with fswerks CAI there.

The steeda intake give you the option of pulling the insert out w/ a tune. For your exhaust= if all your wanting is noise get a different muffler then. For more flow get a 2.5'' mandrell bent system. Grab a tune also.

Due to the climate I live in I decided its best to go with the Steeda SRI but I'm not exactly sure what that insert does and how exactly it can be removed.
And I know this is going to sound dumb but whats a tune consist?

Thanks in advance,

Vlad

W/ the Steeda sri on the '08+ cars they have a insert for stock= no tune. And if remove the insert you w/ need a tune. A tune is a reflash of the pcm. You buy a tune= sct xcal3 from Tom or Fwerk's= Tell them what you want, say you have a header, you can have them turn off the rear o2 senser, being a header deletes the cat 02 senser. If didn't have a reflash to turn that off, your mil or check engine light would be on. You upload your oem flash via the obd2 & then download the new tune. You will find your motor runs smoother. There are many options you can have= like a 91-93 octane tune.

I run the Steeda SRI and the Stealth Exhaust. Great combo, nice low tone but not too loud. Sound great under WOT. Good choices!

My car is still under warranty, will replacing the intake void it? Or can I just install it without tuning it? If I understand correctly, if I install the intake and not tune it, the engine light will come on. Correct?

No, you won't have issues w/ the mil coming on w/ the insert left in. Get a sct xcal 3 flash w/ the insert removed, w/ make your motor more responsive.

If you leave the insert in than you don't have to reflash your pcm. As far as the intake you shouldn't have any issues at the dealer. We never had issues or kicked back any warranty's cause of some mods. I've delt w/ a lot of moddit mustangs= intakes/ exhaust/ suspension & never had a problems. Ford racing parts/ Roush/ Steeda/ Saleen really have no issues w/ warranty. Its when you start adding e-bay knockoff crap.
