ford focus mk1 disc conversion from drums
Hi all I'm new to this forum I'm Jay and I live in worthing... ;)
Iv got a Ford focus mk1 it's on a 01 plate but it's running drums.. Iv found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1609707824...84.m1497.l2649 He's saying it's all there to convert from drums to discs.. But just abit worried on the brake lines will I have to change them or does the brake hoses from the kit fit on my brake lines... Iv been looking all over the net but cant find any thing to do with the brake lines do them brake hoses just fit on to my brake lines or do i need to get new brake lines from a rear disk car hope not :-) .. Thanks all... |

Brake lines are fine, you'll only need to change the hoses

You'll remove that Piece of hard line, the original hose and the new hose will go directly to the caliper

So it goes to the caliper but where does the other end go
I remove the hard metal line what all of it or does it come out in peices or does a peice undo from the back then i can fit the new hoses from the kit to where iv took the metal peice out.. So i will be left with 3 quarters of a brake line till i fit the new hoses. I mite Sound dum but cant work it out i just dont get where the brake hose from the kit goes i no one end goes in to the caliper but what about the other end.. |

Mine has had this conversion done to it. On mine it looks like the rubber hose runs from the caliper the toward the front of the car where it mates to what looks like it is the original metal brake line. It is right where the metal line goes under the sub frame and goes through a metal tab on the frame (looks to be a stock tab). There is a threaded fitting there that the rubber line is connected to (This again looks stock).
Just looked again, it's almost certainly a stock fitting, either that or the guy that did it did a kick ass job and spent way to much time making it look stock. If you look in the gap between the leading edge of the tire and the fender well clear at the bottom near the rocker panel, you should be able to see it on the sub-frame rail, just above the swing arm thing for the rear axle. If I get time later and you still cant find it I'll take a picture. |

Hi m8 thanks for that cant find it and the hoses in the pic ant that long so god knows how they can reach to the front of the car hes sed on the ad and emailed me saying you want need any thing else but cant work out where the hoses go in the pic do they go on my lines or do i need to buy more stuff like new brake lines etc i thought the hoses in the pic just bolt to the lines what go in to the drum or does that peice what goes to the drum unbolt some where then i can bolt the hoses from the ebay ad/pic on to it then the other side to the caliper ;-)

They should just connect to your current brake lines. The fitting they connect to on mine isn't at the front of the car, it is just barely in front of the rear tire.
The hoses in the pic look to be the same length as the hoses on mine. The hand brake cables look the same too. |
