Alternator Whine

I am attempting to fix my buddies focus. It is a 2004 SVT. It runs fine but the alternator is making a pretty loud whining sound that gets louder as the rpm's increase. The alternator is new from C-F-M. It is that PA performance alternator. The serpentine belt and battery has also been replaced within the last couple of months. Another thing to note is that he has an aftermarket stereo system that was installed professionally. The sound just started recently. Any ideas with that information?

Go get a ground loop isolator.

So I am a noob when it comes to electrical things and did a little researching. Would a ground loop isolator eliminate this noise coming from the alternator or just noise coming from speakers? I really don't hear any noise coming from the audio equipment but that doesn't mean it's not there I guess.

Hmm ... You know I guess it hasn't bothered me in a while.

But my SVT has a whining Alternator as well. And it's been like that since I bought it in 2003. brand new.

Happened with the Stock New Ford one, one from AutoZone, O'Reilly and from online sources.

I have not tried the CFM one.

But that sound seems normal to me. If you are not loosing power to your auxiliaries or battery. I think you are fine.

Oh and looked up the isolator. It's too help take the noise away from your speakers.

Alright good to know. It runs fine the only thing I notice that seems abnormal to me is that the dash lights get brighter as the rpms go up and then get dim at idle. So should I tell him to just not worry about it then?
