Electrical Problems

A few months back I was having some electrical problems, my car would jerk as if it was stalling out, the gauges would go crazy, and the lights on the dash would come on. This happened on the way to school, well when I was going to leave school for parts it wouldn't start. Turns out the cable (I'm guessing a ground) from the engine to the chassis literally melted in half. Replaced that and it ran fine until today. Doing the same problems today but still starts up fine, it's only after driving some it'll freak out. I checked the same wire and it seems to be fine, but I plan on double checking later today. I noticed the negative terminal on the battery was a little loose so I tighten and cleaned both terminals and it still was doing it. The wires that go to the positive terminal most likely need to be replaced because they were so corroded I had to cut almost half the wires out so it seems like it would have a loose connection. Does this sound like a good start? Also going to check the wires from the alternator after some research. Probably replace all the wires coming from the positive terminal if possible cause they look pretty bad lol. Maybe a big 3 upgrade also? Don't know how well that will effect it. Any other advice on how to fix this would be great and anything else to look out for and check. Thanks!

Yea sounds like you're on the right track with solving the problem. I'd say check the alternator itself and make sure it's working properly.
