What level Nav data should I have?

Hey don't get up all in my business. I just made a suggestion. I find customer support to not be to helpful and I always seem to be doing the work. I make sure it is done right. Well argue away..or see if you can fix it yourself. Good Luck.

Sorry, I did not mean to sound like I was upset with you. I was/am not. In fact, I believe that you are probably right and in the end I will probably be doing it myself.

I find it amazing how technically incompetent the service dept can be though. I don't know how they can insist that they fully followed the TSB instructions when the instructions say to load data that is not present. Maybe I am better off doing the upgrade myself. Hopefully they are more competent mechanically.

Just get a blank thumb drive of at least 2 gb in size and download the update onto it (SMR will format the drive also) and install it and give them your info to get an A4 card. You should have next day maybe two.

Also, if you have difficulty downloading the update you can get FORD to send you the update on a thumb drive no cost.

Just got my car back. Now SMR says that MFT version is "Sync VersionGen2 - V3.2.2".
Interesting. Perhaps the dealer downgraded me in response to my concern that I might not be able to run the update if I was at the current version. Of course, if they could downgrade me, I don't know why they didn't just fix it.


Another weird thing that I see is my

11/10/2012 Gen2 - V3.5.1 Confirmed Install
11/10/2012 Gen2 - V3.2.2 Confirmed Install
01/24/2013 Gen2 - V3.5.1 Confirmed Install
02/08/2013 Gen2 - V3.2.2 Confirmed Install

(I bought the car on 1/28/13)
So it looks like on 11/10 they upgraded and downgraded for some reason. I wonder if it might have been because they were unable to complete all of the instructions...

That's good that it is reporting the correct version.
Now you can update and get the new card through SMR.

You are correct that the dealer should have handled this for you but the reality is that sometimes you are better off doing it yourself.
Some folks at your local dealer may not fully understand how these newfangled gizmos work.

Hopefully your system doesn't have problems. I remember reading some where that ford does a 5 year warranty on that touchscreen due to problems.

I got the A4 card on Monday and ran the update. Took a around an hour and the system restarted several times. I guess I can see how the service guys might have thought something was wrong or assumed that they were done (except for the nav card step)

As previously noted, after completing the 3.5.1 update, the A3 card was not recognized but he A4 card was. SMR also shows quite a few more packages under the confirmed installation info compared to what was there before.

Anyway, all updated. Thank you all for the encouragement and advice!

I'd suggest a one time master reset, it seems to remove some quirkiness after the upgrade.
