It's been slow and steady since around 8 a.m. Not much accumulation yet. Just a little slushy. If the temps stay around 30 degrees, it's gonna be some heavy stuff. We already have a plow service set up.

Anybody from Mass (or anywhere else) have an opinion on the driving ban? I just saw that Connecticut is doing this too. Kind of totalitarian but it'll probably save some lives. Makes me wonder if insurance companies had any influence on this decision.

TerryB, where did you find that infographic? Shit's hilarious, I totally skimmed over it visually at first an then actually read it, laughed out loud.

Anyways, best of luck to everybody out there.

That's what they're trying to do, starting at 4pm if you aren't authorized storm relief/emergency personnel you could face a fine or even jail time. That's what I read about it. Kind of nuts, only imbalanced people would be out driving in it and they're likely to disregard the law anyway.

EDIT: I see you're from there, I guess you'd know better than me.

I think I just googled funny blizzard pics. There's plenty to look at. I just saw a traffic cam from the Mass Pike. As of 4:30, it was empty. I guess if your out driving like an ass, you'll get nabbed. But, Mass state troopers seem to go above and beyond the call of duty.

All that's due to the road deaths which will number over 30 is my bet and it happens every time the east gets a storm. Just a different world out east compared to the west and the biggest part is the congestion of people and vehicles in that region.

Been snowing here since about 8 am. Only 2 inches of snow at the moment. Weather.com was calling for 18-24 inches of snow but the last I checked it was down to 12-18 inches of snow. Have to wait and see.

Well in Mass the governor declared a state of emergency at noon and all non essential traffic is banned from public roads after 4:00 pm. You can be fined up to $500 and/or get jail time for violating the ban. The government has a lot of authority once the declare a state of emergency.

Now will they actually issue fines or jail someone? Likely some bone heads will be out and about for no good reason and will be. If you are just trying to get home likely not.
