Unhappy Raced my friends GSR... not pretty

well, finally raced a couple of times against my best friends GSR in various ways.

From a stop:

Launched pretty good, got about a fender on him and was slightly pulling until he hit his 1st gear vtec. I stopped gaining and it was deadlocked. When he hit his 2nd gear vtec he started closing the gap. Very slowly evened out and started gaining a lead. 3rd gear vtec engaged (which is, sadly, where the GSR shines) and he started pulling me hard which is where we shut it down. About 1 1/2 cars ahead. He guesses he's hitting about 14.7 in the 1/4 right now.

From a roll (20mph):

We both bang it back into 1st and he jumps in front because he downshifted into vtec and it was just a straight pull from there. We shut it down at about 60, it was pointless

I still havent had the chance to race him top end-wise (60-80mph roll) on the highway but from tooling around with the SVTF on the highway and tooling around with his GSR on the highway, it does feel like his GSR pulls harder in the top end so its probably pointless.

SVTF: stock
GSR: DC Sports header, exhaust, vtec controller... no intake, he took that off a while ago and never told me, so he's just got his stock airbox in there.

Not bad for a stock SVTF considering a stock GSR would be faster alone.

yeah very true blk, the lil boost in trq that the SVT has over the GSR helped off the line but from a roll, fahgitabuotit lol

I still think that if a 5-speed tranny was dropped in the SVT, it would be a different story

yeah, i guess its not too bad, i mean we shut it down right after he hit vtec in 3rd (a... its extremely loud.. b... going fast enough) so probably by the end of the 1/4 he woulda had about 2 cars on me.

VTEC can never lose!!

Sounds like it was pretty fun though!! Those GSR's are pretty damn respectable little cars!!

yeah they are, i havent actually riden in my friends GSR in a while. We went for a ride last night and he banged out 1st and 2nd gear... Damn, I need my motor swap, I almost forgot how hard that motors vtec pulls. Once in mine, it'll be cool to actually chirp tires when i cross into vtec
