Fuel Tank Shield Hanging Off...

Ok, so I got my oil changed and what i thought was my exhaust heat shield was really my fuel tank shield underneath my car hanging off a bit.

They told me that its corroded and unfixable, so is there any place to buy a new one?

Get some self tapping screws and drill the heat shield back up. Just don't drill into fuel tank. That's what I did.

mine fell down a few years back, I poked a few holes in the shield and zip-tied it back up to the fuel tank straps. It was at least 3 years ago still holding.

I would, the only problem is that I just moved and have not tools or a jack. The stealership said it was unfixable, but do you think a little muffler shop or something would fix it?

Use the supplied emergency jack that comes with the car and then slide under the car from the rear. Just make sure you use that jack correctly in the correct spot, and test it to be sure it's stable.

i would, but id probably be under there for a good 20 minutes and i just dont quite trust it. I may just go to the auto shop down the street and ask them if they can do anything

If you bring it in they will prolly use self tappers to hold it back up.

Drummer you're thinking right, don't even think of getting under that car with only that one jack, you always back up with jackstands. I've seen those screw jacks pop free before when the threads got old and worn, they pulled loose.
