Replace Cruise Control

I have a 2005 ZX4 Ford Focus. Its a really great car, 150k miles, everything works great, but the cruise control went out. I've been told to just go online, find the cruise control switch, and replace it. Seems simple enough, but I can't seem to find any information on replacing a cruise control switch....

So I'm wondering is this even worth the effort? Or should I just take it in to a mechanic? Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to a "how to" forum on replacing bad cruise control switches.

Thanks in advance,
Skyler

Lots of things will cause a cruise control not to work

Brake lights-- your brake lights must work 100%
There is some sort of a switch on the brake pedal

BTW do you have a manual or automatic transmission?

""should I just take it in to a mechanic? """
If it was me, I would bring it to a Ford dealership

Well, brake lights work, all three of them come on. I don't think its the break pedal, because the cruise control light doesn't come on period, that's why I think its the switch.

Perhaps you are right, I just need to take it in. I figured I would explore all avenues first :).

Make sure all bulbs in the center brake lights are working. And all the switches are connected at the pedals.
