ODB-II panel removal
Anyone know how to remove the ODB-II cover panel? I got a wifi ODB-II connector with a nice long cable, but even when it's connected the panel won't close all the way. The problem is that it prevents my left foot from resting where it should be. I'd like to use it to record my drives more often, but find having the panel open and blocking my leg a pain.

Don't remove the door. The connector is held in by clips and you can unclip it and slide it back and out. I did this when I installed a Scanguage.

Do your saying the actual ODB-II connector on the car can be moved in and out? Are there some pictures somewhere of how to do that?

Just look at it face on. You will see small white clips. Simply disengage and slide it back out of the bracket. I have mine hanging below the bracket connected to my Scanguage with the door closed.

Are the clips on the left side or on the top or the bottom? I went out real quick to take a look. I couldn't really get my hands on the side ones to push them in, at least not both of them at the same time. Will try again during lunch if I can....

The clips are inside the bracket. I don't remember exactly how they look and I'm at work now and can't check. You might need a small screwdriver to reach in and release them. I don't recall this being all too difficult.

I was also considering taking off the door, but the car's too new to mess up for now. I did go out, unclipped it and everything and I think it's pretty snazzy where it's at now.
![]() Ran the wire up the weather stripping on the side, mashed it between the dash and the A pillar cover, then along the front of the windshield, got some velcro for the gauge and stuck it down. I do need to find a way to anchor it along the windshield, but for now this is pretty good. |
