Dealer issues with cai
I'm going to take my car in for a rough idle on cold start ups and surging power delivery. Has anyone had issues with dealers over a cai? I could put the stock one back in but I'd rather not. I only ask because its an engine related complaint and I could see them trying to claim that there's a direct correlation with the cai.

They could try and say the relocated MAF sensor may be causing the issue. What kind of intake are you using? If it is one that keeps the maf in the same spot such as Steed a, Fswerks, or k&n should not be having issues unless there's a leak before the maf sensor.

Well the dealer has an 'out' Any change to the intake and you are out of warranty.
Personally i would NOT take it in with such a problem and an aftermarket part there. Air filter is one thing, a different cai may be causing problems. And diagnostic is YOUR $$$. Since it is not stock. If it were mine, i would have taken the new CAI off and gone back to stock to see if it is the problem. For the dealer to see is going to cost you $$$ and maybe big money if they say your intake messed up something and voided the warranty. Once they make that claim, You are screwed. Naturally some dealers are more laid back, but i would not take the chance. |

I would return it to stock for the dealer visit. Don't give them an out as 1 member said. I always consider "easy reversibility" for mods. Good luck.

They could use it as an "out" for sure. Warranty will not be voided for that but they will not fix the issue at hand. Return to stock and bring it there.
