i would not say ford has done 'nothing' but that they've not done enough... They should be putting all their resources on this issue for the poor folks that are stuck w/ bum trannys and make it a ford priority to get this to be 'job 1'

if ford truly is putting all their resources into fixing this problem, it's not working and so they need to take a diff tack... perhaps something as radical as doing away w/ the dct.. who knows?

They should do a lot better than this for sure. There is no reason Ford has to put a $2,500 rebate on this car (that is a relatively new design). They could of spent some of the rebate money on fixing the transmission. I agree with doing away with the DCT. If Ford does not want to deal with the problems, then put in a torque-converter (even a 6F35, with its own problems) automatic and call it a day.

There have been people who have complained of the same issues with a 2013 as occurred on the 2012 models with issues. That seems to invalidate your opinion.

I may not work for Ford and have intimate knowledge of every single change they have ever made, but I don't claim to. You on the other hand do seem to claim to be all knowing when it comes to this car.

So far I've seen many new 2013 owners complaining about shift shudder, along with their 2012 compatriots.



That's just one such example mentioning the clunking/ shuddering gearbox in a pair of 2013 Focus models at low speed. That seems to indicate that the problems still aren't resolved in the units that don't work properly.

it's difficult to discern regular DCT characteristics with actual issues with all of the '13 people posting. MOST of that stuff is within break-in as well.

so far there is 0 video/audio evidence of accelerating with grinding issues on '13 foci as well as '13s having fluid leaks.

I could not find any sales figures but one thing to consider is that there are probably more 2012 models in service than 2013 models. I do not know when the 2013 Focus went on sale but the new year usually starts in September.
If the transmission has been improved or not, with less 2013 cars on the street you would see less complaints.

Since the core assembly hasn't changed since March 2012, and there were still reported issues the entire time since then, at least as far as people having complaints on some level or another I'd have to concur at this point.

There are a whole lot more 2012s built at this point (from 2011-7/22/12) vs 2013s which means there is a greater chance for issues to show up with the older units now.

Valid questions would be how many (or if any) firmware updates to the TCM and/or PCM have been made since the publication of 12B37 and if the current TCM/PCM firmware used for MY '12 updates and MY '13 production cars are functionally identical.

Because a number of people had previously reported problems only after getting the 12B37 update, anecdotal evidence would suggest that there may be at least one subsequent update (that was produced after the publication of 12B37).
