Intake question

I put a new intake on my 2001 ford focus se and when I'm stopped it sounds like its still sucking in air and sounds like its sucking too much and it's really loud only when stopped though. Just wondering if this is normal and if it's not what's causing it and how to prevent it.

No. When I say intake I mean cold air intake. It is simply help together with clamps.

What brand is the intake? You can expect a noticable increase in sound with an intake. Ebay ones tend to be louder and not sound as good.

Go back thru a re tighten everything to make sure nothing is loose.

If you do this and there are no leaks...then its just the intake being loud. The stock intake is designed to be quiet, remove those parts and replacing them with a straight tube and higher flowing filter will create noise.

If your car is running, it better be sucking in air, unless you got the new warp drive conversion. You don't hear the air being sucked in when you start moving because it gets drowned out by the engine and road noise. Like the others said, Its very common for after market high flow filter systems to be noticeably louder because there is no effort to silence the noise unlike OEM systems.
