Thanks to those who gave positive feedback. Glad you enjoyed some colorful graphs on a Tuesday morning.

Again the question, who's doing that (planning)? I was merely responding to those who seem to fear the day when they may be "forced" to trade in their car and the unusually low resale value the Focus commands. As this small subset of data suggests, they may take a bath but it's no more of a bath than they'd take with a competitor's car. Maybe for some this will assuage their fear somewhat.

I wondered about that connection too. But why would the region the factory is in have an unusual amount of used stock? The factory's not dumping used Cruzes on the local market. A few hundred plant workers may have bought them but in a region of several hundred thousand that would be a blip on the radar. I'm not seeing the connection...

Hi, I am suprised the depreciation of a Ford is news to anyone, it has always been a fact here. However cars from Vauxhall, Skoda, Hyundai and Kia are worse, the best being VW, don't know why because german cars are less reliable. Most new cars drop about a third of their value once you take it off the forecourt...

Don't feel singled out. Apparently they hate the other cars too.

This is GREAT info and top-notch research but I have to ask, why did you completely leave out East coast and Midwest?

Whaddaya mean, Cleveland is in the Midwest. Or does that depend on who you ask? I grew up 90 miles from Cleveland, within my market radius of 100 miles, and certainly consider myself a midwesterner at heart.

And Tampa is kinda sorta East Coast.

But no reason, just started in my home market and tried to space the dots evenly across the map. Maybe today I'll do a couple more markets, including the northeast, and see if any buck the trend.

that'd be good.. i'd be interested in ur findings for the east and west coasts. As for cleveland being in the midwest... i guess it's all perspective....i guess it's really included geographically in the east but for us new englanders, once one gets past rochester, ny the accent changes and is more of a midwest accent so many view even western ny state as sort of midwestern... odd, eh?
