crazy paint idea... rhino liner

my car really needs paint and i kinda want to do something different with the appearance of my car but i really dont go for the way out there flashy paint jobs. well i got to thinking... you can buy rhino liner in all different colors and that stuff is TOUGH! im thinking i might paint my entire car with red rhino liner. wouldnt ever have to worry about scratching it or door dings, just spray it off with a pressure washer to get it clean and it will out last the car more than likely. what do you think? and this is going to be on the 400+whp zx3 that turbo turtle has in his garage currently.

Many people have painted their vehicles with rhino liner but usually its been black. Haven't seen a color one. Once its on there you're pretty much stuck with it as it will not come off without a great great deal of work and money.

why don't you just use plastidip? all the rhino liner painted vehicles i have ever seen in person were redneck trucks:) also wouldn't it weigh more than paint? though i guess its all about the thickness lol

In his case plastidip is not permanent or remotely durable compared to rhino liner. To do the whole car would probably add 8-10+ lbs of weight so not a big deal. Definitely mostly redneck trucks lol. Although I have seen a couple Focus cars done.

Trucks can get away with it but on a car it looks ghetto.

Look up "rhino liner paint job" on Bing images or Google images to get an idea of what it could look like.

the thickness of rhino liner would have me concerned when it comes to the door gaps. That stuff is tough and it might make opening doors tough if laid on too thick in that area. I say use the glow in the dark stuff if you really want to make a statement

Never done a whole outside, did the whole interior on a jeep. Went right up to the window on the tailgate and around the insides of the jam. Didn't have any issues with the gaps- if that helps. It kinda just sanded it self down after a few uses.
I will say though that after being in the sun a bit, it got to being a dusty black color instead of the nice black it started as. So I'm guessing the colors would look that way too after a while. Red might go pink... So I'd stick to blue, black, ect. Anything that would look good faded.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of cars that are intentionally a little 'ugly' or super utility looking if they're FAST. I say go for it. Just make sure to use something under it if there's any rust. I found that stuff didnt stop rust by itself- it has to sealed with something like por15, rust bullet or Eastwood.

Anything that isn't "paint" looks stupid and you'd be stupid for doing it.

Yes,it will get a faded dusty look after a while and I've seen a few rhino lined 4Runners and they look interesting at first then they just look dirty all the time. Dirt sticks to the rhino liner so be aware.
