Creaking dash noise

6 month and 4700 miles, my hatch started to develop the problem of dash creaking. The noise had a out burst last month, and I took it to the shop. Twice. Both of the time the dealer claimed that they fixed it, and I always couldn't hear it on the way out of the dealership. But both of the time the noise jumped back on the very next day...

I found all kinds of different interior noise discussions on this forum, some of them do happen on my car... the squeaking seat and rattling right side... Neither of them is even one tenth annoying compared to this creaking as it is completely randomly popping and all road weather conditional...

I'm going to take it in for the third time. Before that I'm just curious if anyone is having the same issue? I attach a video to show the noise, just in case it might have a different name... I'm only calling it creaking as my dealer does...

Thats gotta be annoying while driving! Especially if you are listening to something with some bass lol :P Mine does rattle a bit on occasion but I am wary of letting the dealer open the dash up

I had that noise, it's coming from the trim around the screen. I put my fingers on the top part and pressed upwards on the trim on the top part of the trim and it popped and seems to have clipped into place

He's right. I had the same problem. When you push upwards on the soft trim the hard plastic separates. What I did is i took a black rubber band and cut it (so it's one long strip) and used a credit card to stuff the rubber band between the hard and soft trims. You'll have a battle hitting the right spot but once its in you wont hear the noise anymore. I havent had my noise come back in 6 months or so now. At first I did what you did and took it to the dealer 3 times, no fix.

To which part did you push exactly? The only soft trim I can find is the "sun shade" thingy but nothing separates when pushed. Maybe they did this part already.

Yeah the sunshade looking thing where it meets the harder plastic of the MFT trim (I'm assuming you have the MFT screen). It may seem firm at first but wedge a credit card in there and you'll see the gap

Thanks. I'll give it a try myself, after this trip to the shop. My noise is seemingly coming from the lower, especially the AC part of the dash.

Just got off the phone with my service advisor. His comment on the video is "it's hard to hear."
