4f27e Rebuild on YouTube

I came across this vid today. It is from Japan involving the Mazda/Focus tranny and has no audio from the kid, but it's still interesting to watch.

That was an interesting video. He looks to be intimately familiar with transmissions. There were comments related to the video - either from the guy doing the work or the owner of the car. Something about he lost 3rd/4th gear because it wasn't shifting right and possibly burnt a clutch. He was asking for help.

Could there be a problem with contaminates getting into the rebuild. Hopefully the right parts were used. Regardless it was educational.

Replaced #4 Piston, Rings, Rod+Bearings, AERA Re-Manufactured Cylinder Head and a light Hone. Then CLEANED the hell out of everything.

I noticed you have the spi engine, as I do also. I don't know what symptoms to expect when one or more of my valve seats ultimately drop, so maybe you can enlighten me on that. I don't do my own work on engines and the car is just a backup for short trips around town. It will probably die a slow and painful death within a year or so.

If SPI then many times it seems to run fine then you stop engine and upon restart it drops the seat to begin very loud rattling and maybe even engine lockup. Oftentimes comes right out of the blue.

Go to the SPI section of this website, they'll tell you.............
