I need help bad with zx3 half shaft

my drivers side inner cv joint basically blew up today after 500 mile trip first began with a scratching sound some vibration on the automatic trans shifter then all hell brakes loose.got home looked at it bearings where apart inside boot
Pulled the shaft out and and the piece with the splines stayed inn pulled out with one yank with vice grips attached . had previously bought the half shaft from pep boys.It is a Carrdone. They replaced it for me go to put it in the tranny and it will not go in at all.return it again get another one will not go in no matter what i do. Go to advance auto get one there it will not slide in up to the circle clip where i would normally give a good whack with a piece of wood and small sledge hammer to get it to seat.So now I have no Idea what to do,
HELP any one please.I can put everything back together so if it has to be towed but i can brake down everything including removing the strut in about 10 minutes

Im competent but need you guys who are the real experts to help me out.

I'd try another axle and I'd also make sure they are giving me the correct, they could be giving a wrong one .

What's the part number on the box, look that up yourself to see if that is right for your application.

One has has 23 splines, other has 26 splines, depends on which transmission.

half shaft

First thing I`d try now is seeing if the original will go back on . Just my 2 cents worth

Should'a been looking close at the old stub that came out. That is the cure for your trouble.

When you say it won't go in are you meaning that it slides all the way in but you can't get it to snap in the very last quarter inch or so? Or do you mean that you cannot even get it to enter into the hole?

Have you looked into the hole and counted the number of splines, and made sure the hole is aligned?

'it will not go in at all'

'it will not slide in up to the circle clip'

Betting wrong spline part or spline ends chewed up.
