2013 SE HB w/201a...sport suspension?

I see the 2012 had a sport package that had a different suspension than the standard SE. For 2013, what is the deal with the dfferent suspensions available? Does my '13 SE with the 201a package have a different suspension than the standard SE?

Enter this into the search window at Google:

"Mk3 Focus" "sport package" "suspension" site:focusfanatics.com

It seems the 2012 SE Sport Package included different parts (springs, dampers) than the base SE at first but that it might have changed at some point without being clearly documented. Ford's marketing materials have given conflicting information. If anyone here knows the answer to your question it is probably in one of the threads that come up with the results of that search, but I am still looking for it.

According to Ford ETIS the vin 1FADP3K20DL262057 which was an SE 201A DCT has the base Titanium Touring Suspension rather than the standard S/SE suspension, and without the handling suspension of the Ti handling package.

Sometime part way through Job 1 of the 2012 builds they started to switch the SE sport to being more of an appearance package however afaik.

Now the SE 201A package is basically the SEL 302A package from 2012 with the base Ti suspension.

I remember that being one of the theories in 2012, but I didn't think it was ever confirmed. I'm pretty sure that when I checked the parts on my 2012 SE Sport suspension (Job 2), they matched the touring package (base Ti) part numbers, or at least were different than the base suspension part numbers.

I have a standard 12 Ti with 17's and a 13 SE w/201A and 17's and I've driven both and I notice no difference between the two. My other kid has a 12 SE w/203A and 16's and it does drive a little different, it feels a little sloppier.

Could be just the tires?

Could that be just from the higher profile tires on the 16" wheels, rather than any differences in the suspension? One car I changed wheels & tires on for +1 felt much more responsive without any modifications to the suspension.

I guess the only way to see is actually have a Ford dealer look up the springs/shocks and see.

+1

I think the only change that took place was that Ford stopped mentioning the sport suspension. ETIS & p/n review of my delivered vehicle (a late 2012) confirm the presence of the "Touring Suspension." OP, why don't you plug your VIN into ETIS and see what comes up?

I did but I have read that that site isn't necessarily accurate. It has touring suspension....what exactly is that?

ETIS is pretty much always accurate based on the information in your vehicle's Ford Oasis report which is the build and service record database that your Ford Dealer uses to check for when servicing the car.

If the Oasis report is wrong well then all bets are off.
