I cant take off the alternator from my focus
I was trying to take the alternator off my car (focus, 2001, zx3, 2.0 dohc, vin:3), but i couldnt take it off at all! I removed both bolts, and i tried to wiggle it from the sides, from the front, from the back but nothing. What I did was, i pulled it from the bottom left side (if you were looking the the altenator pulley infront of you) and pulled it up...it moved! but the right bottom side would not move at all! I was following the chilton repair manual, and some guide from ALLDATADIY, and both showed to be a matter of wiggling it and taking it off!...please help with this matter! Am I missing a bolt that was supposed to get loosed? do i have to pry it?

Bend the grounding tab up on the pass side shock tower. Then twist and pull it out. Trust me, I've pulled mind out several times. It does come out. You did move everything like the PS and coolant reservoirs out of the way right? Disconnect the charcoal canister?

There is a slider in the bolt hole of the alternator. If I had the extra alt. here I could give you a better explanation. On the side the will not come loose, take a screwdriver to the backside of the hole and try to push it towards the pass, fender from the inside of the hole. I know how frustrating it can be.

You are gonna have to move the slide so it clears the bracket so you can pull it out.

I have to pull the slide? what do you mean by that? it moves from the bracket where the 2nd bolt is located (the low one), but the other one doesnt move at all! so the process is to pull it up right?
