2000 ZX3 - A/C, Rear Defrost, Recirc and more do not work

I have a pretty base model ZX3 that I bought for my son.... After buying it, I found out that the A/C, rear defrost, recirc, dome lights and rear wiper do not work... I checked all the relays and fuses and they're all good. One more problem, the wipers sometimes come on by themselves and can't be shut off without pulling the fuse. I have read many posts on here and have found a common theme for the problems that I am having, the GEM. I looked where the GEM should be and I'm not seeing it. Below are pictures of what I have.

The GEM is not always the problem. Something you don't know about is the hatch wiring problems that these cars have. You should check out the hatch wiring in the rubber boot at the top of the hatch. Just pull the boot back and carefully inspect the wires in there. Over time the wires can wear out- break, and strip off insulation.

I could see how that would cause the defrost and wipers to stop working, but, could that cause the A/C, recirc and dome lights to not work too?
