frozen wipers

during an ice/snow storm, my car was frozen over. i waited til the next day to clean it off because i didn't need my car right away.
when cleaning it off, there was only ice/snow on my wipers area, i got in the car forgetting that, tried the wipers, noticed they were stuck, then went out there and knocked off all the ice around them and then tried the wipers. they only went up a quarter of the way and stuck, wouldn't move at all no matter what.

today they started to slowly move and then do a hesistant full range and then finally went back to normal.

what exactly happened here?

Motor to mechanism joint slipped when the wipers were iced in place, with less load on them it started working again.

Did this myself on the P/U earlier this year. In that case it was the joint at the wiper arm that slipped, and I needed to adjust & tighten it again. better than something breaking.....

keep an eye on yours, if it starts giving grief you may have to dive in to check things out/tighten it up as needed.
