Need help with battery terminal replacements!
Hi, I have a 2000 SE and the other day when I was changing my battery I snapped the bolts that go on the terminal. I decided rather than have to order new cables just to get the bolts I would replace the terminals. However, the negative cable went through a connector and I had to cut it into two different cables. Now I can't get the pieces both inside of the terminal I have because of length issues. Is there anything I can do about this or do I have to order a new cable? I tried duct taping one end to a different part of the terminal but that obviously didn't work. I'm just desperate, I need my car!

Wow I didn't know those existed. Only problem is length. I still feel like they probably wouldn't both go in because of their length.

that is def a possibility to be too short. what i might recommend if they are too short is to do the "big 3" upgrade. get some aftermarket power wiring 4 guage or bigger and replace the stock cables with that.

depends where you get the wire and terminals from. i did mine while working at a shop so i got my parts for free. i would think with both new terminals and wires $30 - $50 depending on brand and all.

I see. Well I'll go back out tomorrow and try to see if I can't get it to go (I got the dashboard to light up for a second so I know there's SOME power getting through) but if that doesn't work I'll look around auto parts shops around here for new cables. Too bad I don't know how to put them on myself and can't get to a shop without a tow :x
Thanks for your help! |

go to car audio shops. you can get terminals and wire there. some sell by the foot, but not all do (like best buy). they are easy to replace. you just need the terminals and some ring terminals that fit. trace the wires from the battery to the other end. neg to block, neg to chasis, pos to alt.
