Heater and cooling question
Hello everyone, brand new member here seeking some advice and recommendations
Issue #1: When I turn the heater on the radiator fan comes on also very loudly even in cold start ups, why would the engine want to cool off when it isn't even hot? Issue #2: During the summer, the engine gets very, very hot (hasn't over heated yet) and if I shut it off it won't start back on for at least a 15 minute cool down period. Issue #3: On hot days, the engine overheats when running the A/C. Could please, some one tell me if any of these issues are "normal" or what I should be looking at? ![]() Thank you in advanced. |

Welcome to the forum!
First off i believe the radiator fan coming on when you turn the air on is normal. Don't worry about it. (Someone can correct me if im wrong) Second with the overheating issue I do not know what you mean by very very hot. However, if in the summer your running hotter then normal chances are there is a problem. Start by checking the normal things... Coolant level, old coolant (maybe you need a coolant flush), plugged radiator, bad thermostat. etc... Finally i would say the last problem is linked to the second. Every time you run your A/C you are putting an additional load on the engine making it work harder which makes it heat up. If you fix your cooling problem the overheating with the A/C should go away. Let us know what you find! |

Thank you for the help, I will look into the coolant issue a bit closer.
Btw, is normal for the headlights to dim a little when the fan kicks in? |

A little could be normal but it's hard to tell without seeing it. It could be your alternator is going or a bad ground as well.
