I've heard of at least one other owner reporting a bad turbo due to oil starvation.

If it were me, I would make very sure that this issue has been well documented by the dealer as well as Ford Customer Service.

This is most likely the case. With a new turbo comes new seals, and those seals need to seat properly with some use, the same thing happened with the Mazdaspeed 3 replacement turbo's once the seals were known to be faulty on occasion with the stock turbo. The new seals/turbo need to be broken in, so don't be afraid to get on the gas and into boost.

Hi Creative,

I recommend dropping by your dealership so they can take a look. They'll be in the best position to determine the cause of the smoke. I'm happy to step in and assist as well; just send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.

Does anyone know if ford uses a screen on any of the turbo oil lines? Screens have killed many a subaru turbo. Would hate to see that happen on the STs.

Does any know if ford balances the turbo before they get sent out or who ever manufactures them does the balancing of it. If I recall correctly I learned Mazda does not balance then the turbos in the speed3's and that lead to some turbos killing them selves in under 10k miles.

No they are not able to order one but the sales manager said he would call me as soon as they get one in stock.

Got the st back today around noon and while driving home I noticed it feel like the car grew a pair of balls, it pulls really hard now. Feels like there is actually 250 to the wheels. Also no more smoke either. It's seems fun to drive again but is reminding me of my old srt4.

Time to let I break in some more and then time to mod the crap out of it.
