I'm not an accountant but a $30,000+ loan is probably in the neighborhood of $600/mo.

Did you plan on replacing the tires immediately (or perhaps you have a second car)?

Proper winter tires are a must anyway, might as well just get a second set of wheels.

If it was 30,000 and 5% interest for 5 years that's around $566.14 per month (28825 * 4% sales tax in NY exclusive of any local taxes was just under 30,000)

So yeah that's pretty much insane to me.

I was reasonable, and saved money until I could afford to buy the car, if not outright in cash but for a reasonable payment over a short period of time ( less than or equal to four years) as opposed to people stretching things out to 72 or 80 months these days.

Actually, I took a balloon payment loan from the bank for 5 years and pay $384 a month. Not Insane. I was paying about $410 for the Ti.

That still seems high, how much or how little is the final payment?

http://www.carsdirect.com/auto-loans...yment-car-loan

I can't see the benefit of only primarily paying the interest for five years to make the payments appear reasonable. Its a larger risk in the end, but a smaller up front risk.

By being responsible and saving to pay more upfront my car payment is less than $170/ month for an SEL.

Uhhh why does it matter to you guys what he's paying monthly or how he's paying it?? He can obviously afford to do it the way he did it, and now he's super stoked with an ST! Do your thing and let him do his!

CONGRATS op, it's a sexy ass car!
