Keep in mind that when a dealer pays off a loan, there may be "negative equity" which is rolled into the price of the new car.
The NADA trade-in values for 2012 Ti hatch (with 10000 miles) range from $15,725 to $17,900. The trade-in values for a sedan are slightly lower.

The OP said he got $21k for his car or "what he owed" so they didn't roll any negative equity into his new ST.

Technically that's not necessarily what it means, it just means they offered to pay off the trade, but doesn't disclose if they put it back in on the back end for the paperwork on the new car. Theoretically they can pay the one car off with money from the new one by rolling it into the new loan.

True.. I just assumed when he said they paid it off and that he got his ST for like $28.8k plus tax that it sounded like because he knows someone there personally that they hooked him up.

Your right though, its what the total amount financed that probably says a lot.

They paid my car off in full and still gave me the ST below sticker. I will be financing $28,825 plus tax....whatever that comes out to be. I owed right around $21k on the Ti.
