Test drove the fr-s today

First of all i must say that i got dicked around by 2 dealers and i had to settle for driving an automatic. But overall the car drove great, not a fan of paddle shifters at all. The steering response/stiffness was great, but the interior was so small, the backseat would be bad for someone anorexic. Im thinking to just get the focus or fiesta st next year or the end of this year.

Backseat is there for nothing but insurance purposes. and still plan on paying to insure a sports car, altho a 4-seater.
When the hell did they start putting auto's in them? no friggin way would I go that route.
And unless you have a second car for a daily driver, don't consider this as a DD.
They are not a winter car by a long shot(light, under powered, low to the ground). and once temps start dropping the summer only tires are worthless(unless you ordered it with the all season which are marginal at best), you will need winter tires, rims, tpms sensors for that time of year.
Don't stick yourself with something your going to regret, can't afford, and the I'm cool factor is going to wear off of quickly.
The frs/brz was the wow thing when it appeared, but has quickly become the miata of the car world.

^^^ interesting take. Never seen one for real. Drove it in a video game (forza), thought it looked neat, and liked that it was a 200 horse rear wheel drive car.

Because the Miata is still picked as a 10 best car even tho' the current model is a bit long in the tooth says something for the Miata. Not a bad thing. Top Gear made the FR-S it's car of the year and was a blast to drive.
Yeah,it needs more power (say BRZ STI) but that's coming down the pike soon and this car isn't made to be a DD but outside a few complaints of lack of power it's been a hit for Subi/Toyota.

Not saying it wasn't a blast to drive, but it's not a DD by any means, and definitely not a car for winter weather. Pretty much like a miata.
The fun wears off it pretty quick.

Hell I'm in the market right now for a Miata as a DD. If I could afford an FR-S I would be all over it. Although I look forward to the drop-top of a Miata. I would not buy either car with an automatic. That's just silly.

Of course winter here can rarely be called winter.

Yea i mean it drove great but the focus st was so much more of a thrill to drive, more room and btw in the fr-s the blindspots are just as bad if not worse than the new body camaros

I've sat in a couple FRS's. I love the spacious footwells.One dealer here had one with aftermarket, I'd guess"TRD" ground effects for $33,000. I'd wait a year,for the hype to die somewhat. I'd wait,,look around for some lease, turn ins.The twins do fill the niche perfectly. chris

Yeah, nice cars, good chassis, but WHOA what a price. You can get a loaded ST for that or a used 5.0 Mustang, soooo why? Get an ST and a used Miata. Now you've got your RWD fix.
