Mercury Marine Coil packs is what they were intended for orginally. Now alot of aftermarket companies are using them as well as race teams. I know Huber's Mustang is or was running around 40psi with them and had no issues at all. They are something like 17amps each, I have two 25amp breakers running them out of sequential so they won't pop.

As Tom has said , I'm running a standalone. I can individually trim spark and fuel per cylinder, and with 4 widebands I can tune it very well.

Thanks, I'm using megasquirt. I was orginally using ms2 on a modified 3.57 board. I'm now running ms3x with a expansion board. The expansion board is for these widebands, VSS, oil pressure..etc (misc inputs). Although I had it installed before, I'm in process or re-doing the entire standalone install. I wasn't happy with how I had wired it previously. Made my own engine loom and all.

Thanks, I need to pin the bulkhead connector on the loom and also mount the ALT/make a tensioner bracket. Then I can drop the engine in. Tensioner won't be a big deal but the bulkhead connector will be @ 1.05 a terminal on a 50 pin connector :(

ms is really picking up their game. i'll be installing ms3 on my miata very soon to get ready for its turbo set up... well actually all i'll be doing is purchasing it and plugging it in, lol. i have a friend that will be building it as a trade for me me fabbing him a turbo kit

Yep Miata has alot of support for megasquirt, I'm pretty sure diyautotune has a miata they toy with.

I'm very interested in the standalone setup particularly.....I have more than one project in mind that would make way more sense to use megasquirt on a focus engine, but so few have done it and logged what worked/didnt work that I'm afraid to go into it blind.

Actaully thats a zx2 engine, not a focus.

What engine are you wanting to megasquirt?
