Depending on the deductible and the fact that he has to foot the bill not the other guy who left, it may be cheaper just to pay outright, or not worth going through the insurance to file an accident since the damage looks purely cosmetic.

Deductible is to high to make it worth while and damage is purely cosmetic. I've banged oit most of the dent and just have wavey metal now. Paint should buff back to life. I want to swap fenders in the spring

The fender is easy enough to change out but a paint match would be easier to blend in if the original can be straitened. If the dents are about four inches from panel edge then straightening and blending are easy enough

Don't want to hijack the thread but this accident happened to me on the last day of november:

A guy on a bicycle tried to beat a red light trying to get through a 6 lane intersection + 2 service roads on either side..welp he did not make it halfway through before plowing into the side of me, who had the green light/right of way. he FLED THE SCENE, well hobbled away. Cops came, did not even write a police report because he was gone. I still contacted my insurance and had a 100 dollar deductible through Allstate. Damage came to $1800. The bodyshop repaired the bumper instead of replacing it.
