quick question to throw out there. when taking out the passenger axle do you typically put grease or some lubricant on the mounting bracket where it meets the windage tray?

I didn't do that and when I drive I can hear a sound coming from that wheel side that sounds like metal on metal

i need to locate an OE passenger side axle myself. i broke mine several months back and put an autozone axle in there and after crawling around under my car the other night i noticed that its all rusted up. not really impressed with the quality of it...

Get the empi axles from rockauto. Another member on here has them and he said there very good quality.

I think the empi axles from rock auto are like 57 a side. And there a larger diameter shaft

i may have an oem axle in my attic. i'll check tomorrow. its been up there since i pulled my zetec. has about 40k on it

dude you're making this way too easy for me. i feel like im cheating by having you do all of this. and i just put a BRAND NEW tensioner and idler pulley on the timing belt this weekend. i had developed a squeak in the belts on cold start ups that sounded like the bearing in a pulley going bad and since i only changed out the belt (none of the pulleys) at 100k i figured those were the culprits... turns out its the serpentine tensioner lol. so you can re use those pulleys when i get down there. they wont have more than 1000 miles on them by then.

let me know if you have that axle still. if you do ill take it off your hands. otherwise ill order a new one and ill change it out before i come down if it gets here soon enough or ill just bring it along with everything else.
