Question about bumper insert replacement

I am sorry if this is asked somewhere else before but since I dont know the name of the part I was not able to find anything. I have a 2010 Focus SE. Across the bumper is 4 small looking grill inserts. My wife was driving this morning and hit an animal. Luckly the bumper is fine but one of the inserts was busted. I noticed it is one peice. My question is how do you change that out? Does it just slid out from the front or rear? Do you have to take the bumper cover off? Because we work diffrent shifts I was not able to look at it too long. I found the forums here and hoped someone had to replace it before. Thank you for any help or advice on this.

The lower grille is one piece. Is that what broke?

That is correct. It appears as 3 peices across the bottom but I know it is one peice. I am not sure if I have to take just the bumper cover off or the entier bumper.

I think you can replace it without removing the bumper, you'll just need to remove the bottom air dam to reach it.

I would recommend ordering the part from TousleyFordParts.com and hopefully someone with an SE bumper can chime in. I assume it is the same process as the SES bumper.

I believe you are talking about this piece right hrrrrrr

front by DarderSauce, on Flickr

That is all one piece held into the bumper with little clips. Like mac said, take off the bottom air dam (directly under the bumper) and you should be able to pop it out one side at a time. You can get it pretty cheap, here is the first one I came across on eBay but again, like Mac said, Tousley Ford probably has it cheaper than anywhere you can get it online.

Hope that helped.

What are the possibilities of anything bad happening, if say, I just wanted to remove the lower grille for the sake of just having something different, i.e. an open front?
