2010 SES stock sound system question.
I was wondering where exactly the stock sub is and how to access it. I wanted to do a slight upgrade to the sub without the need of an aftermarket amp. My friend who use to do stereos said as long as I get the same OHM rating and roughly same wattage, I can just replace the stock and run it off the factory amp.

if you have one then it would be in is black enclosure on the side of the trunk. pretty obvious looking if it's there. not all of them (even the ses) came with one.
and changing out the sub isn't gonna sound or perform any better unless your happens to be blown.

In the stock housing is what he means.... the stock housing is crap... so it is pointless to take out the stock speaker and put in a aftermarket speaker in the stock enclosure.... Now putting an aftermarket enclosure, sub, and amp in is a completely different story..

yes. the stock system is designed as a basic add on to the system. changing one part of it is like putting on a clean sock and expecting to be a better runner. if you really want a sound improvement you will need more than just the sub. also the factory sub is pretty low power and an equal replacement is not something that will perform to an expectation that would be desired.

Understandable, I was looking at a 2 10" with port box on crutch field I believe it was only $100 what are some recommendations for aftermarket speakrs and subs for someone that listens to mainly dub step and metal.

I would suggest re audio 10" SE-X Sub. I have had the 12" and 10" version and my one 10" SE-X hits harder than alot of peoples two twelve setups. SonixElectronixs has them on sell right now for $129.99. I dont imagine the two tens you found in a box for only $100 sound very good at all.

i have 2 10" alpine type E subs with the mrp-m500 amp and love it. hits hard when i need it to (ported box hit 141.8db at 50hz), but still have a crisp clean sound to it. and it's affordable. the subs retail for about $130 each and the amp was $200 i think.

Here is a link to a reasonably priced solid setup for you:
Amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...NX1.1000D.html Subs: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...o-SEX10D4.html or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...o-SEX12D4.html And I would highly suggest a box built to the exact specs of the speaker you choose. You should determine the speaker and amp you want to go with, then find a box for it. I'm all about doing car audio the right way as well as many other members here are. We have made plenty of our own mistake with cheaper brands and such.

Well, I do appreciation the suggestions. Also, I'm not looking for something to hit extremely hard I just want something that is a lot better than the stock speakers bass. I understand car audio is not a cheap thing but are there good priced subs that will get me a good bump for between $70-$100 each. Also what are some good speakers.
Also have you guys personally heard anything about this HU Pioneer-AVH-P2400BT Also My focus doesn't have wheel controls or SYNC so which harness would I need. I was looking around and there are like 5 different types of wiring kits. Sorry for the overhaul of questions and you guys are being very helpful. |
