how to clean headliner
Ive read plenty of threads about headliner stains and how they replaced the whole headliner, but i would like to know how some of ya have cleaned the headliner. My two boys like touching around the back of the car alot and ive noticed some smudges on the headliner that have started to bother me... my ocd... lol. just wanted to make sure its ok to clean the headliner and see what others have done to clean it. i have some scotch guard spray i use on my seats to clean and protect and would like to know if this would work also. May be a simple question but i would just like to make sure before i do so and i wouldnt want to have to replace the headliner if i screw up. thanks for answers ahead of time.

I wouldn't touch it if I were you...
My dealership tried to clean the stain (is that link still working?):

Mine came with a stain and Ford couldn't fix it. They attempted to order a new one and Ford denied the claim saying "User-caused issue". It never got cleaned, no matter how hard I or the dealership tried.
Whatever that headliner is made of, it sucks up stains and keeps them forever. |

man i was thinking they were just surface stains from dirt or whatever else they got their hands on. but i dont want to make it worse than what it is so ill probably leave it alone. thanks for the input.

be-careful. I used a little damp microfiber towel once and it left a water stain where I tried cleaning. I was told you should use some woolite to clean spots on the headliner but I've never tried it yet.

No expert here but seems any water or water based cleaning methods will make it worse and leave horrible stains. This headliner is the worst material ever. Someday I hope to get a custom leather headliner installed or something other then the stock one. All headliners.accumulate road grime after time and need cleaning. Impossible to do with this one. Have to replace it and I wouldn't want another stock one that's forsure!
