Angry Steering Assist Fault Service Required

I've notice quit a few peoples having the "Steering Assist Fault" problem, as am I. I have had this happen 4 times now. The first time it happened I was sitting in the driveway when the information lite came on with the message, didn't think anything of it, thought it was a fluke. Well the next time it happened I was driving down the street when it the message came on on the steering went tight (as if the power steering went). Made an appointment for dealer to look at it. The dealer had it 3 days last week and couldn't find anything wrong. Ford told the service person to unplug all electrical pertaining to the steering and reset it. Well I picked up my car last Friday and seemed find until Saturday morning when it happened for the third time, couldn't take into dealer until Monday. Well on Sunday it happened a forth time. I'm dropping the car off at dealer tonight to see if this problem can be fixed.

Has anyone else had this problem and has it been resolved???

search the forum. a lot of people have had this problem. Its the steering module but Ford won't recognise the problem yet. hopefully there will be a recall for it soon.

Hi tbrohl68,

Dealer visit - check! Now let’s arrange a call from the Customer Service Manager for your area. In order to do so, please send a PM with your contact information, dealer name/state, approximate mileage, and VIN.

Take care!

Noemi

Eh?

I had mine fixed no problem...I doubt Ford would approve such repairs if they didn't "recognize the problem".

I am having this exact same problem, and after 2 days at the dealership with my car, they can't find any information logged by the car.

When the steering locks up it's been a little scary. Luckily it hasn't happened at speeds higher than around 10 miles/hour, but I'm not sure what else to do with this one.

Anyone have any further info at this point?

Send me your information so I can look into this for you, JudgeWapner. In your PM, be sure to include your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name so I can best see how to assist.
