07 Dtec cuts out at 2800rpm

I have a 2.0 with a short ram air filter since 50k miles and now it has 159900 on it. I clean the filter and MAF at least once a year or when needed. I cleaned it three days ago and it has not ran right since. I always disconnect battery 1st thing and then do the rest, I cleaned it and dried it with low air pressure and then set it in the sun to dry. I reinstalled everything and now it runs bad. It pulls fine till it gets to 2800 and then shuts down as if I turned off the key. I had a Ford garage diagnose it and found it to be the MAF sensor, so I put a new OEM part in today and it still does the same. I can rev the engine up to whatever rpm desired and it does not cut out or sputter of any sort. My question is " if the MAF sensor was bad would I still be able to rev up the engine as if nothing was wrong as it sits in park? " Any thoughts ?

is the MAF sensor going in the correct direction?

Also, I have started my car on accident with out reconnecting the MAF altogether and it ran fine(threw a CEL pretty fast though) So to answer your last question, yes you would be able to rev the engine even if the maf was bad. Are you getting a check engine light?

no engine light, the car ran good till I cleaned the filter, cannot understand what I did. The MAF is in correct, I tried to put in the other way and the holes did not line up. I was told by a mechanic to check for leaks in the rubber bellows tube that the Maf tube inserts into. I did that and it looks great with no dry rot to the rubber. Tomorrow Im gonna try some carb cleaner around the tubes where the filter is and the rubber bellows just after the MAF. Well I couldnt wait, I ran to Autozone and picked up some carb/throttle body cleaner and sprayed these areas, hard line that goes to the breather and the other end to the rubber bellows, around the sensor mount, the area where the maf tube goes into the filter and also the throttle body and rubber bellows mount. I did this and still did not get any revs out of it. What now ?

If you have a plugged cat, it can act like it hits a brick wall at RPM.

Have a friend rev up the motor while you hold a wadded up rag TIGHTLY against the exhaust pipe, if you can't choke out the motor by plugging the exhaust then chances are the cat is already chocking it off.
