Where have you been? We've had the ST for a while. I can get a base model one at the dealership down the street for $22.5 in tangerine scream. I can then put my ~$17k saved into my own modifications or house payments.

Even if the engine is stock, you can bet that Ford supplied Shelby with the coding to tune.
For the future and optional "Shelby Performance Tune" perhaps. Wonder what they'll charge for that? Another 5 or 10 grand? This car has been disappointing for sure. Even with the Borla exhaust and Brembo brakes and other assorted doodads, charging $15000 on top of a new ST is a stick in the eye to anyone with a lick of common sense.

I'm pretty sure you can already gain 25ish HP to the wheels with Tom's Tune on a ST... and that's what, $500?

Cobb has been able to add almost 80 ft/lbs with just a tune, and improved the powerband/torque curve.

Exactly. Reputable tuners have had their tunes out for awhile. You would think that "the premier performance car company in the United States" would be able to launch their Focus with a power bump.

Maybe Shelby is trying to tell us something about the durability of the rest of the Focus ST drive-train under more power and torque? After all the racing only Focus ST-R has the same horsepower as a Focus ST.

Quote:
As with the Focus ST, the ST-R will make 250 hp, but it also gets a roll cage, upgraded brakes and suspension and Ford has taken steps – such as removing the carpet – to hold down on weight.

Well the ST-R is an entirely different monster... listed as the same hp/tq but it also weighs 550lbs less...not to mention all the race goodies built in. I'd imagine its stock hp numbers have more to do with different class restrictions and keeping it a turn-key racer (no idea but thats my guess)

The race goodies are appropriate for its $99000 price.
