Do I NEED a tune with the steeda SRI intake????
Ok so this summer i am planning on buying a Steeda SRI for my 07 focus. Now i currently have just a Magnaflow exhaust as performance upgrades go.... So when i get this intake i heard it came with a insert that you need to put in???? But when i put this in do i absolutly need a tune? And if i do i would get the Xcal but i am not quite sure what it will do to my car and since i am still paying on it I am not sure if i would do it. ( i dont want to screw anything up lol )... So i would just like to know if i use that insert do i need a tune.. and without a tune does the SRI still give power increases????
Sorry if i sound like an idiot but i just want some more power but i dont want to screw anything up.... |

Where am I?

Short answer, no you do not need a tune for these simple bolt-ons. But a tune will help give you full benefits of every bolt on and make your motor run more effectively. Thus possibly resulting in improvements in fuel mileage and feel of driving.
Also moving this to "ECU Tuning Chat". I feel the people that browse that section often might be of more help than myself.

I personally ran my Steeda intake for about a year and a header for about 6 months before I could get a tune. You're good man! It's a great product, btw. I love mine!

Yeah, tou can feel a difference. It's not earth shattering or anything, but it sounds great and definitely makes the car a bit perkier! If you have an auto, a tune is still one of the better mods you can do, as a tuner will change your shift points and other things that will make it a more aggressive ride.

Cool thanks yeah I was looking into a tune but I really wasn't sure what it would do and I didn't want to hurt anything so I was going to do some reaserch on it before I bought it...

I just wanted to clarify something that you noted in the start of the thread. In regards to the insert for the cold air intake, that is something that is on 2008+ Focus intakes. If you have the 2007 model, as shown, it will not include an insert that can be removed.
And as noted by others, you do not need a tune with the kit. You'll be perfectly fine. :)
