2012 Focus problem HELP !

I bought my focus SE in August 2011. I live in New Jersey and was on my way to Florida when all of a sudden my cars power stearing went. I started to pull over and the battery light went on and then all of the warning lights came on. Basically the car died on the side of the road. The car told me the transmission was overheating and then shut down. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this problem before? I never had any problems really with the car. I mean it's a little glitchy but everyone I've talked to seems to have the same complaints about it. I need to be in Florida by tomorrow and right now it's sitting at a dealership in NC. Hopefully it will be able to be fixed tomorrow? Anyone have any guesses on what could be wrong with it?

This has happened to quite a few people on the forum...with mixed results. The dealers for a few people were unable to duplicate it so no repairs were done. For some, the problem never returned, for others, it has happened again and again, and Ford has been unable to duplicate it.

Did you let the car sit after it shut down? and if you did were you able to restart it normally?

yea that battery is probably defective. Remember power steering is electric. If the car wont even attempt to start, it has no juice.

Also dont worry too much about the transmission warning. Electrical issues can cause the car to say and do funny things

Strange. If it was a bad battery or bad alternator I don't see why that would cause the transmission to overheat...

Keep us updated with what the dealer finds out tomorrow.

There are several posts. You can do a search for "transmission overheating"

I really don't think it's the battery though. All of the lights are still working in the car and everything. I guess the dealership will tell me tomorrow. I hope they know what they are doing. Only one focus on the lot and mostly used cars it seems like such a tiny dealership.
