Using 2 keys for the Focus

Hi,

I'm using the redneck remote start* method but I don't know why I can't lock/unlock my car when engine is running.

*One key in the car ignition to start it and second key to normally lock the car.

It's like the Focus ignore my second key commands...

Normal?

In my 2013 SE I can start the car with one key, and use the other key fob to lock/unlock the car (the lights don't flash though on unlock, like they do when the car isn't running.) I used the "redneck remote start" all last winter before I installed a proper remote start this summer.
