Swap sohc to dohc

Help! I’m starting to do a swap on a 2001 Focus SOHC A/TRANS to a
DOHC A/TRANS. I have a complete 2000 DOHC engine with auto Trans and the engine wiring harness. I have done a lot of exchanges in the past but not with the wiring and CPU involved. From what I have read on this site I need to swap the wiring harness. What part of the harness do I need to change? What part of the harness is different? At this time I do not have an ECU with a matching Key and wiring, If I find a CPU and a non matching Key. What do I need to take to Ford to mate them? It may be easier to use the key I have with the car so I don’t need to change the door and trunk keys.. What advice can you give regarding this project? Thanks

Here ya go. Just the engine harness is required you should not need any other harness, it goes from the engine back to the fuel pump. It weaves into the passenger side wheel well then into a hole in the fire wall to under the dash, then it continues down to the floor board it forks off to the shifter, and continues back to the fuel pump.

They are different from the passenger seat forward you can splice the wires from the b-pillar back if you don't want to drop the tank. Your gonna need a lot more than just a wire harness. Your best bet is to find a donor car you will need everything from the fuel tank forward, scans the interior and trans of course.

Good Luck and Welcome!

Wiring

I'm in the middle of doing a swap . I'm at the point of installing the the wiring. I'm working with a 2001 SE with wiring out of a ZX3. I started to splice in the new wire and found there is fewer wires in the ZX3 wire. If I had to guess it would that the SE has a theift alarm. Has anyone have some advice for me.

My se has a theft alarm but I didn't have any problems going to the zx3 harness that I used. Where are you splicing at?

I spliced mine about midway down the front door just before the shifter wiring.

Midway

The place I counted the wires was midway down the passenger door. Thanks for the reply.

The alarm should end at the dash. so the wires should all be the same down that low. I wish I could see whats wrong.

Did you have the same number of wires? My car is an automatic was yours? I'm not sure if the donor wire was from an auto. What I may need to do is follow the wire.
