I wish I could show you the picture the service writer took of mine before it was replaced. It had many razor sharp edges lifting up. Not the sort of thing you fix with touch-up paint.

Of course, the replacement part seems to be doing it again, but not nearly as bad. Maybe I should break out the nail polish and paint it over before it fails completely... because that's the sort of thing you should have to do on a new car. It's probably my fault for putting my hands on the steering wheel, anyways... LOL.

I had a 1977 LTD when I was a kid and it had a similar problem with the fake chrome on the gearshift lever. I wrapped it in masking tape. You'd think that in 30-some years Ford would have figured this one out, but I guess not.

Come to think of it, when my airbag module with the razor sharp peeling trim on it was was replaced, it was the only time I got my car back after a dealership repair without new problems.

My only problem is where the dealership painted the new front number after the accident. Its peeling pretty bed. I'm taking it to a body shop in the spring. I'm going to have the cheap plastic on the mirrors and door handles painted too.

Crummy dealerships seem to be the source of a lot of problems... I hope Ford is listening.

I must say, my '12 Focus S with 01-12 build date with 16625 miles has had very minimal issues, one was a bad valet key and the other was a software update with the 5spd.

Otherwise, no issues like most others are experiencing. I am otherwise happy with what the car is and has to offer.

My 05/2011 built SEL has been pretty well problem free! Other than the updates to the DCT. Rear window defroster didn't work very well, and the steering wheel Peeling issue (both fixed by Dealer) I've only been in for general Maintenance stuff. Its at 25.8k miles right now and runs perfect. Just needs new Tires, BAD :(

Yes. Almost 51,000 now. It had 7,900 Dec 2011 when I purchased it. Hopefully I will only put 30,000 on it this year.

I'm at the opposite end as I'm at 6300miles in the first 8 months and by a year it should still be under 9000 and only had a hiccup at 96 miles from bad bearings on the AC compressor.

7k miles on my 2012 job 2 SEL. Love the car. a parking valet commented that my car "lagged" on take-offs but that's a characteristic of the DCT that has never bothered me nor do i notice anymore. love the MFT but i only use it for phone and music.

the 10-speaker sony system is the first car audio system in the last five or six vehicles that i will leave stock. i think it's great.

i've done three 700-mile road trips and the focus is great on all terrains. we're taking it to yellowstone in june and i figure i'll drive close to 3k miles.

my only complaint is there's a rattle i can't locate. but i figure there has to be some reminder that i'm not driving a toyota .
