Finally Got The SVT Intakes Dynoed

Well after almost a year of testing we finally got the pair of our Zetecs with the SVT Manifolds to the Dyno, and the results were what we were expecting........

My Wifes ZX5:

Best HP Run:
Max HP 150 Max TQ 130
Best Tq Run:
Max HP 148 Max Tq 132

This is the first car to dyno at 150HP on a bone STOCK head.

This chart is has both my car, Ian's car, and then another car that was dynoed that has similar mods to my car but it had a ported 00 intake instead:

Blue Line:Me(see mod list)
Red Line: Ian(Basiclly the same minus TB, and he has FR stage 3 cams)
Green:00 intake car

So basiclly what we found out that the 00 intake supply a little more TQ in the Lower RPM range, but the SVT carries far beyond the 00. Ian's car did pick up 4 HP and 2 FPTQ when we reactivated the intake after the cam tunning.

So, our next step will be testing it with a FR Head. We are expecting decents gains, because it looks like the head is the weak spot(Intake,SVT Exhaust Mani, and Cams are suppling the HP but the head just can use it.

Add some other pics..........

I will say this, the results are about as I had expected them.

Comparing Lil_redzx3's dyno to that one I would still choose a 2000 intake over an SVT intake setup. Basically from a cost perspective, I don't see much of a benefit from it.

Also, I have seen a handful of setups make 150 whp with a bone stock head.

What are the mods for the second car?

Ian's car had FR stage 3 cams,FC long tube, and Thermel Exhaust.........

I can't disagree with you for the 00 Intake being more cost effective and for the majority of people the 00 will work great. But what we are looking at is more of a comparison between the FR Intake(which would be in the same ballpark for price). I'm not sure how the FR does on top but I have heard it's not much for bottom. The SVT is right on line low end wise with an 00, but I can't say how it compares to a FR on top. I think it is a happy medium between the two.

As for the 150hp, just going by what I was told. At that particular shop, I was the first to 150hp on a stock head(and I know they have done a few Foci).

At mcnews it was probably the first, but it has been done before.

For the intake manifold comparison, I am looking at my friends dyno and his car with a FR intake manifold and crower 2 cams is making the same wtq from as that car with the svt manifold down low, up around 5000 the Fr intake pulls about 10 wtq more than the svt manifold. Also the head isn't stock but the curves are very similar.

One other thing, in the second dyno you have a 3rd car listed as a 2000 intake car, ummmm that car hasn't got a 2000 intake. I know cuz I installed all the kids parts.

The third car had old Crower 2's. That's why the hp falls off up top.

I am anxious to see what these cars do withg an FR head and a little compression. They were both running out of injector on the topend and needed to be run a little rich thru the mid range to keep the A/F close on the top. I liked the results. We will know for sure when the FR head goes on. I think it will make good power.

You guys did some nice work on these cars.

I'm interested it what they will do with a little head work or the FR head as well. I think it will be some decent gains.

Thanks for the complement Ray, I must return the complement as well, great tuning and couldn't have seen the gains we did with out you, Thanks so much again.........We will be seeing you again whenever Ian gets his head back from FR.........
