Not a big fan of the Marines myself, but I still respect anyone who volunteers to serve.

Good luck and have fun. It's easier than you think.

A fellow marine told me of his story in basic training (his basic training)

He goes going through basic and it was really rough, and he thought he couldn't do it anymore. So he approached his senior DI and told him "Sir I'm gay I can't stay in the marines"

The DI looked at him and said "So, your gay...when did you figure this out" he goes "In the last few weeks" DI nods his head and says "Alright, here's the deal you call your dad and tell him your gay and I'll let you leave, otherwise get back to your fellow recruits"

He left, went back to his fellow recruits, and finished basic and is currently a marine, O yea and his wife is hot.

From now until you ship, nothing else else matters. (family obviously does)

Study your General Orders & knowledge, practice pull-ups, crunches and 3mi runs... 20 dead-hang pull-ups; 100 crunches in 2 minutes, 18-21min will suffice a high score. All this will help with the Combat Fitness Test too...

A Drill Instructor (MSgt) was kind enough to post this.

Seriously, take charge and get Company Honorman. Instant LCpl at graduation. If you're a Platoon Guide, Squad Leader or Scribe at graduation, instant PFC. I'd give up my Quadriplegia to do it all over again.

Then do Recruiting Assistance. If you get 2 people to sign contracts that's a promotion to PFC or LCpl. 100 point towards promotion if you're a LCpl.

Trust me, I'm a Marine Sgt ret. ('02-'11)

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask....

What MOS did you sign in to be?

It bothers me when people don't capitalize "M" in Marines. Anyway... Good luck in basic brother, it's tough 13 weeks but when you look back after your done, you find it funny and find yourself actually having fun doing all the training requirements. I would go back to Bootcamp in a heartbeat.. If you have any questions, just post here and I'm sure we will be able to answer all your questions.
