New to the forum and have a question

Hello, I am new to this forum and recently purchased a pre owned focus. I have noticed this car may have some rusted solenoids on the top.of the engine...just wondering if anyone else in this forum has this?

Seems like it won't let me post the picture up because I'm New

No problem. I've never heard of this, so either it's a new thing or it's not a concern.

The car is missing the plastic under panel below the engine. I suspect that the car had material and water run up the engine compartment due to not having the panel installed

Someone needs to chime in with what those do. It's very strange that yours look like that, I just went out and looked at mine and they are fine. My cover is there, but damaged, and my car regularly sees water, mud, clay, etc. and mine look dirty but uncorroded. I see you're in FL, maybe the salt has something to do with it.

It's the Variable Timing Solenoid. We do not have salt put on the roads like up north for the snow. However, according to carfax, this car was part of a fleet/rental. Maybe the car had a lot of exposure to the sand/salt from the coast and beach. I will take it to the dealership this week since I know only have a few miles left on my bumper-to-bumper warranty. I don't know that it affects the performance or anything.

The variable timing is very important, so I'd get it checked out. Use that warranty while you've got it.
