Programming key pad

SO, I just got a remote keypad for my 14. In the instructions is says to turn the ignition key from off to run 4 times and end in the off position. Then I should hear a chime telling me it is in programming mode. I don't hear a chime and the keys/pad don't program. Tricks to do this? I've tried several times.... car doesn't enter programming mode.
Thanks!

You have to do the key turns rapidly, within 6 seconds.

1. Close all doors and buckle the front safety belts. (I didn't have to buckle the seat belts)

2. Use the door lock control switch to electronically unlock all door locks.

3. Turn the ignition from the OFF to RUN position 4 times in rapid succession (within 6 seconds), with the fourth turn ending in OFF.

NOTE: If no action is taken within 10 seconds after a transmitter has been programmed, the programming sequence ends.

NOTE: Despite the instructions the door locks will not lock and unlock to signal the vehicle is ready to be programmed.

4. Within 10 seconds, press any button on the RKE transmitter to be programmed. After the first RKE transmitter is programmed, press a button
on each subsequent RKE transmitter to be programmed (each within 10 seconds of each other). Finally press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on the
keypad at the same time for one to two seconds then release them.

NOTE: Despite what the keyless entry keypad instructions say the door locks will not cycle locked then unlocked after programming each
trasmitter. On the C-Max there will be no notification after each device is programmed.

NOTE: If programming mode is exited and no key is learned, all keys (if one or two were programmed) are erased for RKE transmitter operation.

5. Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:
- The key transitions to the RUN position.
- 10 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last RKE transmitter was programmed.
- The maximum number (8) of RKE transmitters have been programmed.

6. Check the operation of the transmitter. If the door locks do not respond for the programmed RKE transmitter(s), wait several seconds and press
the button again.

I just can't get this thing to enter the programming mode. Called the dealer and asked. Didn't really get anywhere. May have to take it in. I can't think of what it is I'm not doing, or doing wrong.

Hey there Kjanracing,

To prevent inadvertent key erasing we have changed the number of key cycles for programming keys/keypads to 8 times from the original instructions to cycle the key 4 times.

Let me know if cycling 8 times works.

Thanks. I'll try 8 cycles. I did try it earlier without luck. I'll try again. Do I end the 8th cycle with Key Off or Key ON?
